It is a pleasure for us to send the First
Information on the Workshop organized in the frame of the EU PROFOREST project
at the Forest Research Institute in Warsaw (FRIW).
The Workshop is especially designed for
geneticists (specialised both in molecular markers analysis and tree breeding),
biologists and foresters interested in modern methods of forest tree genome
studies. Forest policy makers are also welcome to join the meeting in order to
discuss practical use of molecular markers in Forestry.
Topics:
The Workshop is related
to genetic diversity conservation methods especially for Scots pine and another
widely occurring species and microsatellites analysis technique. Presentations
will be given by invited experts from Poland and EU countries. Round table
discussions are very welcome. During a field trip we will meet practical
application of the some presented idea. It is our intention to keep the meeting
as a broad base for exchange of information related to gene conservation and
sustainable management of forest genetic resources.
Workshop objectives:
·
Dynamics
of the genetic diversity assessed with adaptative and neutral genetic markers
·
Introduction
to the microsatellites analysis and interpretation of genomic data obtained for
Scots pine populations
·
Statistical
analysis of microsatellite marker data
·
Using
microsatellite data to infer patterns of contemporary gene movements in various
tree species
Location:
The meeting will be held at the
Forest Research Institute in Sękocin near Warsaw – 45 minutes by bus from Warsaw
Okęcie Airport. Detailed information on transportation will be available soon.
A transfer from Okęcie airport and the Warszawa Centralna railway station to
FRI Sękocin will be arranged.
